Custom Matrix with Craft 11am CT

by Anthony Colangelo, Developer at Happy Cog

Craft's Matrix is a game changer in the age-old battle between art-directed content and WYSIWYG editors. Custom Matrix blocks, together with Twig's template inheritance and naming-based specificity, gives us incredible power and flexibilty within our templates.

Key Points:

  • Use of various Matrix blocks for longform content across all Sections
  • Use of Twig's inheritance to clean up template code and improve reusability
  • Use of Twig's conditional template inclusion to create default templates for Matrix blocks, with the ability to override with more specific templates, based on varying criteria (Section, custom field value, etc)
